The Little Britain Merchants are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Art Field, a true cornerstone of our team and community. As the founder of the Merchants in 1978 and a devoted leader for more than 50 years, Art built far more than a hockey club. He created a lasting legacy rooted in family, community, and pride. A devoted family man, his love and values were reflected in everything he did, and that same care extended to every player, volunteer, and supporter who became part of the Merchants family. Art’s unwavering commitment helped shape generations, fostering not only a love of the game, but a sense of belonging in Little Britain. His impact was recognized through the Ontario Hockey Association Gold Stick Award in 2015, and through the Merchants’ induction into the Lindsay & District Sports Hall of Fame in 2024, an honour that speaks to the enduring legacy he helped build. Through his family and the countless lives he touched, Art’s spirit will live on in every game played and every memory shared. Rest peacefully, Art. You will forever be a part of the Merchants family.

Before the game, the Merchants coaching staff will be receiving the Orr Division Coaching staff of the year award and Curtis Misner will be receiving the Orr Division Most Sportsmanlike Player award.
